So much info… how do you stay up to date with all the changes within Facebook?

That is what I am going to try and do every month.

One of the most important aspects of getting certified with any of the Facebook Blueprint Certifications is making sure you stay up-to-date with changes within the platform.

Facebook Updates – August 2017

1. Removing Unintentional Clicks From Audience Network

From our experience, launching ads on the Facebook Audience Network is probably one of the cheapest placement for your ads.

The cost per click or CPM is the lowest among all (Newsfeed, Instagram, Messenger – even Video); however, their overall conversions are the worst.

And it seems like Facebook found similar experiences across the board. In order to avoid the unintentional clicks that diluted ad campaigns, Facebook will now look at “drop off rates”.

A “drop of rate” is basically the time a user spends on the landing page of an ad. From now on, people who click on an Audience Network ad and spend less than 2 seconds on a destination page, will not count towards your ads.

If you are working in developing countries and stopped doing ads on the Audience Network, I would recommend trying again.

2. Better View Of Total Campaign Impressions

Facebook introduced two new metrics to the reporting:

Gross Impressions

This new metric will capture all billable and non-billable impressions made with your budget. Non-billable impressions are all ads delivered after an advertiser’s budget was spent, served to the same person within a short time, or were detected as fraud.

Auto-refresh Impressions

This new metric will give you an overall view on the right-hand side placements. After a short period of time, most right-hand side ads are auto-refreshed by Facebook. This new metric will allow you to know how many of your impressions came from the browser refreshing.

3. Marketer control for branded content tags

If you are a brand, you will now be able to authorize which post creators can tag you in a branded content post under your Post Settings. You will also be able to have insights

You will also be able to have insights specifically for those type of posts.
